(insert clever Introduction title here)

dramedy: a genre of television, theatre, and film in which there is an equal or nearly equal balance of humor and serious content.

I can't count the number of times I've heard that my life should be a reality tv show (ok, most of those times were said by me). Now keep in mind that this idea started pre-jersey shore, real housewives, etc.; before reality tv was just an excuse for people to drink and get in fights. We're talking back in The Real World: Seattle era (even though I think they did still drink and get in fights back then). My life isn't entertaining because it's a series of fights; it's entertaining because I'm goofy and silly and not afraid to show it to the world. And yes, there's a little bit of drama thrown in along the way. My life pretty much encompasses all the the reality tv sub-genres: I live in a house full of roommates, Tre works on cars and is in a band, I compete in horse shows (I use the word compete loosely), we did a house remodel, and we love to travel. I think that covers just about everything! But I think what makes us really fun to watch (as Andrew said) is that Tre and I actually like each other. We live adventures together and even make our own silly adventures out of the mundane.

Since this is an intro, I should probably tell you what to expect (although I think I just broke the writing rule of telling you what I'm going to tell you by actually typing that I'm telling you): I received a video camera 3 1/2 years ago. At that time, I was going through a divorce, my dad had just died, and I was in a new relationship. Cue the drama part! But who videos drama?! I chose to video the fun times. So that's where my blog will start. Not that my life wasn't interesting up until then; I just didn't have a video camera for proof. This blog is going to be accompanied by my (and Tre's!) home movies (via youtube links). So this will be a blog/vlog hybrid. I hope you're as entertained by my home movies as I still am. Seriously, I laugh REALLY hard at myself and even more at Tre and his antics. Maybe if I'm lucky, the realty tv fairy will read this and I will one day have my own show without the choppy cuts and shaky camera work provided by yours truly. Before I can really start my hybrid blog though, I have to learn how to actually edit and piece together movies on my mac. So stay tuned for videos!

The next couple blogs are going to be part original myspace blogs that I posted starting in 2007 and part my own commentary on both the time and the video that will go with it. I'll do something really clever like have different color fonts for past and present. It's going to get crazy!!
